Arthur Menard de Calenge, CEO of Lambs, joins us today to explain signs we can look for that indicate an oxidative stress overload and really simple science-backed tips and tools to combat it.*
Can You Give Us a High-Level Overview of Oxidative Stress?
Oxidative stress is an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (better known as “free radicals”) and antioxidants. Oxidative stress occurs when the number of free radicals outweigh the body’s ability to detoxify itself with antioxidants.
Free radicals can damage the components of our cells, including DNA, proteins and lipids, and can cause disruption in our normal mechanisms of cellular signaling. Unabated, oxidative stress can cause damage to our body’s cells and cause a number of short term and long-term symptoms and diseases through a process called mitohormesis.
What Are a Few Sources of Free Radicals in the Modern World?
- Smoking
- Wireless (EMF) radiation (cellphone, wifi, bluetooth, 4G, 5G)
- UV
- Pollution
- Alcohol
- Some pesticides and toxic chemicals

Talk to Us About The Technology In Lambs Clothing Helps Mitigate Oxidative Stress
Lambs helps to mitigate the effects of oxidative stress by opposing exogenous sources of stress responsible for triggering excess free radicals production in your body. Lambs’ unique fabric-technology is the world’s first fabric incorporated in everyday apparel that has been shown to block the majority of wireless radiation (cellphone, wifi, 4G, 5G, bluetooth) and that is UPF50+ (blocking over 98% of harmful UV - vs 20% for normal apparel).*
What Is the EMF/HRV Link and Explain How Lamb’s Technology Can Help?
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a measure of our Autonomous Nervous System (ANS) that is widely accepted as one of the best, non-invasive measures of our body’s recovery and ability to perform. A high HRV is widely understood to be a sign that the body is performing at a higher level.
A higher HRV response generally indicates that your ANS “rest and digest” response is currently dominant versus your “fight or flight” response.
Because EMF are perceived by your body as an exogenous source of stress, they can trigger your sympathetic nervous response known as your “fight or flight” response. By reducing exposure to EMF your body stays in “rest and digest” mode.
Quote: Because EMF are perceived by your body as an exogenous source of stress, they can trigger your “fight or flight” sympathetic nervous response.
Pre-studies have shown that wearing Lambs increases HRV by an average of 18%. This is significant because a higher HRV contributes to optimal:
- Overall health & wellness*
- Performance (athletic and cognitive)*
- Sleep and recovery*
- Blood pressure balance*
- Focus and calmness*
What Is in the Threads Of Lambs Clothing That Makes It So Protective?
Lambs created a proprietary fabric technology that weaves SilverFlex™ fibers in a protective pattern. The conductivity of the fiber grid creates an electromagnetic shield that blocks wireless radiation, UV, and supports healthy blood circulation.*
Can You Share Data You Have Collected From Studies Associated With Lambs?
Happy to do so. All studies can be explored in further detail on the site but here’s a brief overview of the positive effects of wearing Lambs, reported by users:
Sleep & Recovery
Better sleep length and quality was reported by users wearing Lambs at night (60% of users). These findings were corroborated by measurements on sleep tracking devices such as Oura Ring or Whoop.
Fertility Boost
Enhanced fertility was reported by males and couples after wearing Lambs with many successful pregnancies reported (15 cases). Sperm count measurement before and after starting to wear Lambs daily corroborate these findings.*
Optimal Cognition
Enhancements to focus, attention, and memory (50% of users) and clearer thinking (70% of users) and occasional headaches were reported by users after starting to wear Lambs on a daily basis.*
Improved Stress Tolerance
Overall better stress tolerance and improved recovery from stress was reported by 44% of users, which is consistent with the lower Resting Heart Rate measured in the independent pilot study when wearing Lambs.*
Why Does Wearing Lambs While Sleeping Help Raise HRV?
EMFs are perceived by your body as an exogenous source of stress, and they can trigger your “fight or flight” sympathetic nervous system. By reducing exposure to EMF, Lambs helps your body stay in “rest and digest” mode with your parasympathetic nervous system dominant. This helps you sleep better and recover faster.

Speaking of sleep, do you consider yourself a good sleeper? What helped you become a good sleeper?
According to my Oura ring, I am a decent sleeper. It’s been improving over recent years, as I pay more attention to my sleep routine and started wearing Lambs at night. I go to bed at the same time each night.
Many things contribute to my sleep quality. I have F.lux installed on my computer and an equivalent on my phone to lower my exposure to blue lights. I’ll complement this with blue-light blocking glasses in the evening and try as much as possible to keep the last 1 to 2 hours of my day screen-free.
I also have an 8-Sleep mattress for temperature regulation, use a sound machine for white noise, wear an eye-mask to block any light, and turn off my phone at night. My wifi router is located at the other end of my apartment.

What is one biohack you cannot live without?
That’s kinda cheating but it’s my Lambs. I really see the difference in my sleep and HRV.
